We're Anika and Carson, the Ontario wedding photographers behind Amare Studios, and we built this whole thing on a simple belief: that the moments that matter most deserve to be preserved forever.

Amare means "to love" in Latin. We didn't pick that name to be clever. We picked it because this whole thing, the studio, the work, the life we've built together, started with exactly that.

We met working at Starbucks in 2018 and never looked back. We fell in love, built this business together, and got married surrounded by everyone we love most. And somewhere in planning our own wedding, we truly understood what it means to want every single moment of that day preserved forever. That's what we bring to every wedding we shoot. Not just a camera. A genuine understanding of what's at stake.

Today we shoot alongside an incredible team including Nurin and Crystal, who we chose not because they filled a role, but because we felt it, that instant connection that tells you someone truly cares about this work the way we do.

We are so grateful to do this together. And we genuinely cannot wait to capture your love story too. 🫶🏼

Documentary Wedding Photography Across Ontario and Worldwide

Your wedding day is more than just an event; it's a collection of real, unscripted moments. Our style is all about capturing these genuine moments, the laughter, the tears, the stolen glances that define your relationship. We want you to be yourself, and we'll be there to document every candid smile and heartfelt emotion.

From Toronto to Hamilton, Niagara to Muskoka, Prince Edward County and everywhere in between, we know Southern Ontario and we love shooting across it. But some weddings take us further, we're right there with you.

Most of our weddings are right here in Ontario, but we also travel across Canada and worldwide for destination weddings. Whether you're saying yes in the Italian Dolomites, on a cliffside in Portugal, or somewhere neither of us has been before, we're in.

Just us, your day, and wherever it takes us.

Ontario Wedding Photography FAQs

Q1: How much does an Ontario wedding photographer cost?

Wedding photography in Ontario typically ranges from $3,500 to $8,000, depending on coverage and experience. At Amare Studios, our couples typically invest around $5,000 for full-day documentary coverage across the GTA, Hamilton, Niagara, and Southern Ontario. Inquire for full pricing on our pricing page.

Q2: Do you offer both wedding photography and videography?

Yes. We're one of the only studios in Ontario that handles photography, videography, Super 8 film, and 35mm film all in-house under one creative vision. Most couples book our Storytellers Collection, which bundles photo and video together so you have one team handling everything on your wedding day.

Q3: What is your wedding photography style?

Our style is documentary at heart with editorial touches. That means we focus on capturing real, unscripted moments as they happen, the laughter, the tears, the in-between glances, rather than over-posing or staging. The goal is for you to look at your gallery years later and feel like you're right back in the day.

Q4: What is Super 8 wedding film?

Super 8 is actual analogue film, not a digital effect or filter. It's the same nostalgic, warm film format your parents and grandparents used. We shoot Super 8 alongside our digital video coverage as an add-on for couples who want something truly heirloom. Each roll captures about 3 minutes of edited footage and adds a timeless, cinematic quality that digital cannot replicate.

Q5: How do I choose the right wedding photographer in Ontario?

Start by looking at full galleries, not just highlight reels. Anyone can curate ten beautiful images, but a full gallery shows you whether the photographer can capture every part of the day consistently. Look for documentary moments, real emotion, and an editing style that feels timeless rather than trend-driven. We also recommend booking a quick discovery call with any photographer you're considering. You should genuinely like them as people, because they'll be with you all day.

Q6: What makes Amare Studios different from other Ontario wedding photographers?

Three things. First, we handle photography, videography, Super 8 film, and 35mm film all in-house under one creative vision, so there's no coordinating between separate vendors. Second, we're a husband and wife team who built this together since 2017 and understand what's actually at stake on a wedding day. Third, our style is genuinely documentary, meaning we capture your day as it actually happened, not as a styled version of it.

Q7: Do you shoot weddings of all cultures and traditions?

Yes, absolutely. We've photographed Catholic, Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, secular, and multicultural weddings across Ontario. Every wedding has its own rhythm and traditions, and we approach each one with curiosity, respect, and a willingness to learn. If you have specific cultural moments that matter to you, we'd love to hear about them on our discovery call so we can plan accordingly.

Q8: When should we start looking for a wedding photographer?

Most couples start their search 12 to 18 months before their wedding date. Peak season dates (May through October) often book out 18 to 24 months in advance, especially for popular Saturdays. If your date is closer than that, still reach out, we sometimes have openings and our team has additional availability.
